

At Volvo Group I was part of the Design system team providing components and patterns to support all Volvo Group umbrella businesses. We gathered interview data and survey suggestions and worked continuously with improvements to support all user experience areas of Volvo Group.

Research & Problem Statement
The challenge was to design the hero component in a way that would engage all Volvo Group business areas. These audiences include individuals who are not familiar with Volvo Group, users who aren’t aware of all the product’s features, and business leaders who are seeking to improve brand recognition across all websites.

Inspiration & Competitors
The client asked for a modern approach that would benefit all business areas. Using already created Volvo patterns and getting inspired made me look into a new concept.

A modular hero-system started to emerge where each area could utilize the hero in there own way. But still remain in the frames of the Volvo design language.

Challenging the brand
I paid extra attention to buttons and images throughout the design development process. ensuring users would be able to access the content.
Taking inspiration from the real world products was a major inspiration, rounding of the button corners to match the aesthetics of the vehicles.

Variation is key
When combining 10+ business areas in the same system, variation is key. Creating this modular system with different variations, we made sure there was something to fit everyone.

Result
The concept design is elegantly simplified to communicate the benefits of the product with interactions that are strategic and minimal. While the user scrolls, the background color changes and so does the two images, transitioning into the next section in a modern and stylized way.
